7 Great picture quotes on being thankful

According to some studies, being thankful has many advantages: from a better state of mind to actually being healthier [7 Scientifically Proven benefits of being thankful]! I think being thankful is really important in our day to day lives because it helps us see how much we have to live for and inspires us when we stop to appreciate the little miracles of life all around us, so today I am going to share some of my favourite quotes about being thankful with you. Here they are!

1. The hardest arithmetic to master is that which enables us to count our blessings

The reason why I really like this quote is because many people will tell you that they're not good at maths. To some extent that must be true, because people often lack the ability to see the things they have to be thankful for in life. This makes me realize that we can all be “better at maths” by changing our attitude on life.

2. Happiness is itself a kind of gratitude

No one who is constantly complaining really feels happy. When we're thankful, it's really a matter of choosing to be more positive about life and focusing on the good instead of the bad. That is why gratitude makes us happier.

3. Gratitude is a sign of noble souls

This one is really true. People who aren't grateful for anything are usually perceived by society as brats, while people who are grateful even when they have very little are often seen as admirable.

4. Be thankful for what you have; you will end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don't have, you will never, ever have enough

This quote makes so much sense! If you focus on what you do have, you'll know how to make the best of it and have it work for you in the future. Focusing on what you don't have, could just as well be time spent with your head in the clouds, because thinking about the things you wish you had aren't going to magically make them appear out of nowhere. It's a matter of thinking constructively about what you have.

5. Thankfulness is difficult to express when one starts with an attitude of entitlement

I guess this one ties in with the previous one quite well. When we keep focusing on everything we think we ought to have, we're missing the point. Firstly because those things aren't going to jump out of nowhere and secondly - not being thankful for things robs us from the happiness of being thankful as well as robbing happiness from people in our lives when they don't receive thankfulness from us when they really should have.

6. Sometimes we need to remind ourselves that thankfulness is indeed a virtue

This one really speaks to me. We have all had times when we didn't feel thankful for all the things we do have because one thing didn't work out the way we wanted it to. Like when we're in a financially tight situation and we fail to be grateful for the fact that we still have a roof over our head, food to eat and clean water to drink.

7. And last but not least...

This one reminds us that we still have plenty to be thankful for. That is why I like it.
